Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi to Finland

The Foreign Minister of the Republic of Indonesia, Retno Marsudi, will visit Helsinki on Monday 18 June and have a meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs Timo Soini.

Minister Retno Marsudi's visit to Finland is related to the meeting of the UN Secretary General's High-Level Advisory Board on Mediation, organised in Helsinki. The Foreign Ministers will discuss the bilateral matters between their countries, the development of the EU and ASEAN, regional issues in Europe, Asia and globally, the relations between the superpowers, interreligious relations, and the UN's role.

Indonesia is the fourth most populous country of the world, the biggest country in Southeast Asia, the third biggest democracy in the world, and the world's most populous Muslim-majority country. Finland's relations with Indonesia are good. As far as the commercial relations are concerned, Finland is interested in the strongly growing markets of Indonesia. In the energy, education and forest sectors, the cooperation between the two countries is already well established.
