The Independence Day of Finland will be celebrated on Sunday, 6th December. This year, exceptionally, no Finnish diplomatic mission will organize an Independence Day Reception, due to state budgetary constraints. Therefore, no reception takes place in Prague either.
This does not stop us from celebrating the Finnish independence individually, or in more private gatherings, remembering those women and men who made huge sacrifices in order to achieve the independence of our country and also to maintain it. Neither does it stop us from celebrating the young generations of Finns and wishing them the same "sisu" in facing current and future challenges.
To our friends in the Czech Republic and Slovakia: we want to express our appreciation for all our shared efforts and cooperation. Let us all raise a toast to Finland on Sunday, each in our own way!
